Local Foods
Local food sources are vital for the security of
- your family,
- your community,
- your nation,
- and your planet.
The modern food chain in the UK is about 2 days. When the oil storage tanks exploded near Hemel Hempstead the shelves were empty for over a week even at the superstores. The government tells us that biological and chemical terrorist threats are no longer a possibility, but they are inevitable. If they happen in your area, the superstores will have no food.
In many communities, the local producers have already been forced out of business. They cannot sell you quality healthy food you can trust because the superstores have forced them out of business. So now we buy chicken from China along with toys laced with toxins. Foods that are produced so cheaply (even with the petrol needed to ship them from the other side of the planet) local farmers cannot compete. This is not ethically possible. Someone somewhere pays a heavy price for our cheap food. We buy processed foods laced with chemicals primarily to increase corporate profit margins. These are foods with little usable nutrition that lead to obesity and serious health conditions. When we base our diets on these foods, we contribute to the madness while damaging our own bodies. Its got to stop somewhere either by choice or the collapse of a system that cannot be sustained forever.
When you source your basic food needs locally, you contribute to healthy whole foods as an alternative to cheap processed foods that destroy
- your communities,
- your local producers of real natural and healthy food,
- and damage your health.
When you have your own grain and mill it fresh as needed, not only will your health improve, you will always have food even if the food supply chain is interrupted for days or even weeks. When you buy local whole foods, your whole world becomes a better place.
