Fresh milled whole grain bread mixes

Our bread mixes are special because they are fresh stone-milled whole grain flours with all whole food ingredients. There are no additives or preservatives. There is nothing refined. We have something for almost everyone. We have great wheat, spelt, rye, yellow maize and barley bread mixes. Many new mixes will be here online in a few weeks. Two of them won Gold Stars in the Great Taste Awards. Details coming soon!

The Lord's Bread  (Yorkshire premium wheat, yeast, sea salt: you add honey, olive oil, egg & water)

The Lord's Bread is based upon a recipe from the Bible (Ezekiel 16:19) that includes fine flour, olive oil and honey. It produces a slightly sweet loaf that is very light and creamy in texture. Children love this creamy slightly sweet loaf that is highly nutritious with fresh whole grains, local honey and virgin olive oil. Instructions for baking by hand are given or it works well in most bread machines on basic, rapid rise, light crust settings.

Soda Bread Mix  (North Yorkshire wheat and oats, cream of tartar, soda, sea salt)

This soda bread produces a very creamy loaf that is best hot out of the oven with butter. Developed by our own Maggie Barlow and it is so good, it has replaced our Irish Soda Bread Mix

Quick'NEasy Granary Bread Mix  (Wheat, spelt, maize, sunflower, linseed, yeast, sea salt)

A great loaf of nutritious whole grain bread! No kneading; just a few minutes to prepare. It is a soft yeast bread with medium density and great flavour. Mix the dry ingredients including yeast packet into bowl, mix thoroughly with warm (not cold) water and an egg. Spoon into a stick free 1 1/2 pound loaf tin, allow to rise briefly and pop into the cooker

Corn Bread Mix  Naturally gluten-free (Yellow maize, gluten-free baking powder, sea salt)

This wonderful whole grain bread mix is naturally gluten free. Popular in the American South and Southwest (and much of the world), fresh milled maize has a wonderful texture and is full of flavour and nutrition. Easy to make with no kneading or rising time. Comes in 2 packets to cook fresh twice. Best cooked in an 8" iron skillet, muffin tin or square oven-proof dish and eaten fresh out of the oven with butter. Great with soup, salad or a hot meal. A great nutritious whole grain bread alternative for coeliacs.  Milled and packaged in a separate gluten free room.

Ancient Spelt Bread Mix Wheat free (Spelt, yeast, sea salt: you add honey, olive oil, egg & water)

The same recipe as The Lord's Bread (Ezekiel 16:19). An ancient recipe with an ancient grain. Many tell us this is the best wheat free bread they have ever tasted. In only a month, it has already become our best seller. The bread is less sweet than the Lord’s Bread and a little lighter, but not as creamy. It rises very high in a bread machine as long as you use the basic rapid (about 2 hours) cycle. Instructions for baking by hand are given or it works well in most bread machines on basic, rapid rise, light crust settings.

Spelt & Sunflower Mix   Wheat & Yeast Free (Spelt, oats, sunflower seed, baking powder, brown sugar, sea salt)

This recipe (from our own Imbhams Farm Granary) is an easy to make wheat and yeast free recipe that produces a small granary type loaf with medium density, very creamy and full of flavour. Many people bake this bread and freeze it. Then you can cut off each piece one at a time. It goes a long way.

Spelt & Oat Bread Mix Wheat Free (Spelt, oats, seas salt, yeast)

This recipe produces a light flavourful loaf of wheat free bread. Good for sandwiches or toast. An excellent choice for those wanting to avoid wheat. A good loaf for bread machines using the basic, rapid cycle with medium crust.

Spelt Challah Bread Mix  Wheat free (Spelt, yeast, sea salt: add honey, olive oil egg & water)

This wheat-free recipe is based upon The Ancient Bread Mix. Challah is a braided bread that you break off the loaf with your hands. Best eaten fresh out of the cooker with butter. Instructions for baking by hand and diagrams for braiding are on the label. For bread machines, use the dough cycle, then remove the dough, make the braids, let rise and then bake. It produces a slightly sweet loaf that is very light with a unique creamy texture. Worth the effort and time!
